Within CropMix, we work in co-creation: that means coming up with ideas together with chain partners and researchers from different disciplines to make the agricultural system more sustainable.
Within CropMix, we are not looking for one ready-made solution for every farmer or value chain to become more sustainable. We want to identify different transition paths, applicable to different situations. Think of farmers with wide strips and long value chains, but also small-scale farmers with narrow strips who sell in a short chain. Or perhaps very different cropping systems that use crop diversity, such as agroforestry. We also look at what consumers and other stakeholders think and their role in the transition to more sustainable agriculture.
Our co creation platform are the living labs, that make connections right across the work packages. In the living labs, we will set the research agenda and experiment together to see what works and what does not in the transition to ecologically sound agriculture.
Goal: Clarifying and stimulating the emergence and development of transition pathways in multi-actor networks, in relation to changes in the broader policy environment.
Work package 3 consists of social scientists and transition scholars and focuses on the social context and transition paths. The research falls into three PhD projects.
